What do we do?

Horizons Family Law Centre offers a range of services including: a telephone advice line, face to face consultations, legally assisted mediations, pre-court and out-of-court assistance, in-court representation, help for community service workers and seminars.

There is no cost for any initial discussion with us by telephone. If ongoing help is requested, some non-profit charges may apply. Full details of any charges will be disclosed before any work is done.

Telephone Advice Line (02) 9890 1203

Our telephone advice line operates from 9am to midday on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Legal advice is not available by email. If you wish to obtain advice, please call our telephone advice line during its hours of operation.

Face to Face Consultations

Face to face advice is available at our Sydney North and Sydney South advice clinics, by appointment.

Sydney North Advice Clinic
Venue:    Parramatta Baptist Church 
                84-94 Kleins Road, NORTHMEAD (once on the campus, follow signs to ‘The Hub’)

Time:     From 9am to 3pm on Fridays

Sydney South Advice Clinic
Venue:    Georges River Life Care Centre
                23 Stanley Street, PEAKHURST

Time:      From 9am to 3pm on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month

Legally Assisted Mediations

Legally assisted mediations are arranged by Family  Relationship Centres if the                circumstances of your family require it.

We conduct legally assisted mediations in co-operation with: 
    • Parramatta Family Relationship Centre, Level 3, 16 Parkes St Parramatta (phone:        9895 8144); 
    • Macquarie Park Family Relationship Centre, 68 Waterloo Rd, Macquarie Park (phone: 8874 8088); 
    • Blacktown Family Relationship Centre, 125 Main St, Blacktown (phone: 8811 0000);

Assistance with Discrete Tasks and Ongoing Representation

Assistance with discrete tasks (for example, preparation of court papers), out-of-court representation and in-court representation are provided in some circumstances. This help is targeted towards those people in the greatest need without any other access to a lawyer.

Telephone advice is available to community service workers at anytime, subject to our availability to take the call, by calling our administration line on: (02) 9890 1208

Horizons Family Law Centre runs community legal seminars and volunteer training from time to time with organisations including:

    • Greater Sydney Family Law Pathways Network (Parramatta)

    • Anglicare

    • The Public Interest Advocacy Centre

    • City of Ryde

    • Ryde Family Support Service

    • Hunters Hill/Ryde Community Services Inc

    • Christian Community Aid Service
